BELLA
We met our Kenyan designer, Bella, in Summer 2020. Bella had worked with jewellery for years and we absolutely fell in love with the sustainable brass pieces of hers which we discovered, so statement and so unusual. Bella leads a team of six super talented artisans who source the recycled brass, horn and bone, hand-craft and polish the jewellery in a small workshop in Nairobi. Her words when we first started working together, ‘You are saviours. I can now pay my children’s school fees’. She is a superwoman and we are honoured to be working with her and our journey together has meant we have been able to co-design several collections together.
Minnie is based in Nairobi, Kenya and started creating her pieces from a desire to wear clean-line, subtle and understated elegant jewellery. Her inspiration comes from lines, geometric shapes, colours of the ocean and the open Savannah grasslands. Minnie creates from the heart and you can see this reflected in her designs. We are lucky to have her as a part of Lala Salama, bringing fresh, effortless designs to the brand.
