our story

The brand’s Co-Founders, mother and daughter duo, Jyotsna Shah and Krupali Khimasia, couldn’t find a brand in the market that; focused on ethical, sustainable materials such as brass, which had more unusual pieces and which also celebrated the beautiful work of artisans, hence lala salama was born.

Jyotsna and Krupali have with a very close connection to Kenya. Jyotsna was born in Kisumu, a small town in the north of Kenya and on a recent trip back to Kenya she met lala salama’s first co-designer, Bella. Bella’s words, ‘You are a saviour. I can now pay the school fees for my children.’ The way the co-founders have been able to have an impact on Bella’s life, inspired the two to kickstart the brand Lala Salama and hope to create opportunities for others just like Bella and team behind her.

our designs

Our jewellery is designed in London and we collaborate with designers in Kenya. Our jewellery is handmade; the beaded jewellery hand-beaded, and the stone pieces hand-cut, by a skilled team of artisans in the green lands of Kenya. All of our pieces are made with local materials and are ethically made and sustainably sourced. lala salama jewellery is not trend led but is a collection of timeless high quality designs for everyday wear which one can store in their wardrobe for generations, all designed with beauty and elegance in mind.

We believe that the beauty of these pieces lies in the design and individuality of each of them; the love gone into creating them, and the impact they have on communities around the world.

Find something unique for you and connect to your own personal energy signature through wearing one of these golden pieces. We are proud to be using brass in many of our pieces - a material known to have metaphysical properties, allowing one to be their true authentic self; mirroring the vision of the brand.

lala salama jewellery makes you feel alive.

ethically made & sustainably sourced

Our pieces are made of solely 100% recycled materials, such as brass, the metal alloy consisting of copper and zinc and hand-sourced stones. Brass is very durable hence has been used for decades in Africa and is a sustainable alternative to gold as it eliminates the need for mining. It is 100% recycled and contains no newly mined metal but instead comes from a variety of sources including redundant keys, padlocks, jewellery waste and metal scrap. Brass is a beautiful sustainable metal.

We aspire to lead the way for sustainability in the industry, only using materials which can be 100% recycled.

Our jewellery is ethically made and ensures only local materials and resources are used and all of the jewellery pieces are made by hand by a skilled team of craftspeople in Kenya. We believe that handmade jewellery has an expressive, heartfelt quality which cannot be replicated in any other way.
